Finally, it’s my turn!

The 17th of September 2007, at Nichols Point Scout Hall on a Monday night was when I, Rachel Alderton auditioned for Electric Light Theatre, 2008. I was waiting for this moment since my eldest brother, Brendan Alderton started when he was 13 (which was by the way 8 years ago)! When I first walked into the hall I thought to myself Oh my goodness, I am not going to be able to do this, but then, once I knew what I had to do and what it was like, I just couldn’t do anything but have fun!

About three weeks later, I finally got a letter saying I had made it into ELT!
I was so excited and I couldn’t wait until rehearsals. When the first rehearsals came I couldn’t stop smiling! And with the support of my older brothers Brendan and Andrew, and my older sister Casey I was ready to go!

I made SO many friends from the ages of 11 to 21, friendships that will last a whole lifetime! But after a few rehearsals of going through songs and finding out what I was in, we got down to business. Dances were being choreographed, early calls began, solos were being rehearsed, lines were being memorized and costumes were being made!

But even though everyone was busy doing stuff, they knew, it was worth it. My expectations of this performance are that it will be amazing, exciting and of course because it’s my very first year, nerve-racking.

So for all you kids out there who are into singing, dancing or acting, or, all of them, make your dreams come true and join ELT, and I assure you will get the best time out of it, and make the best of friends, and my only advice is work hard, try your best and have heaps and heaps of FUN!!
