Welcome to ELT
The original concept was to conduct
Stagecraft Training sessions
during the long School Vacation. We
hoped it would give youngsters a
purposeful activity. Our Show has grown in size and complexity. The
demand is strong and each year we have to turn away a number of eager
young entertainers Here is some interesting information about the show.

DEDICATED TEAM
Electric Light Theatre is an Incorporated Amateur Production. It is
administered by an elected Committee of six Supporters who are
responsible for the Business Management of the Show. The Creative
Direction of the show is the responsibility of our Production Team
who have an interest and experience in some aspect
of Stagecraft either creative or technical. We formed the show to
pass on our love of the stage to our talented young entertainers. No
one in the show receives any personal payment for their contribution.
EXCITING OPPORTUNITIES
Each production requires about one hundred and fifty people,
including the cast. ELT provides opportunities for experience in both
theoritical and hands on experience in every facet of musical
theatre. Included are aspects of set design, construction and
painting. There are many hundreds of costumes to be made and altered.
Properties have to be made. There are challenging roles in marketing,
public relations, and many aspects of administration. All these
require interested volunteers. Some are parents who like to support
their children, while others are community volunteers eager to learn
more about live theatre.
REHEARSAL VENUE:
Nichols Point Scout Activity Centre, Koorlong Avenue/Curetin
Avenue, Nichols Point. Some rehearsals are held at the Red Cliffs Civic Centre.
TIMES:
Sunday rehearsals; for most Cast run between 1.00pm and 4.30pm. Early
calls are made when some cast are required to learn specialist roles,
including acting, singing and dancing.
Monday evening rehearsals involve all cast from 7.00pm to 9.30pm.
Weekend rehearsals are compulsory for
all cast to attend. We supply
some meals and you spend a lot of time rehearsing.
The weekend rehearsals are held in the Red Cliffs Civic Centre, when we
put the final polish on the show before moving into the theatre.
Some extra rehearsals for costume fitting and special routines will be
called for members of cast.
ATTENDANCE:
Cast: When you arrive or leave rehearsals you must report to a member
of the Personnel Team, who will ensure that your name is marked on
the roll.
Other Departments: Report to your Department Head.
ABSENCE FROM REHEARSAL OR LATE ARRlVAL: CAST
If, due to unforeseen circumstances, you know you will be late or
unable to attend a rehearsal, cast members MUST telephone WITHOUT
FAIL a member of the Personnel Team. There is an absence report form in
your script to be completed.
We assume that before you applied to join ELT you carefully
considered all your commitments for the next few months. You must
attend ALL rehearsals. Your failure to attend can cause great
disruption to rehearsal schedules and unfairly disadvantage other
cast members, who are relying on you being there and playing your
part.
As a cast member, you have a responsibility to yourself and to the
rest of the show to attend EVERY rehearsal. If something important
comes up, and we mean important, you
need to talk to our Personnel
person or a member of the Production Team.
If you arrive late to rehearsal, please report to our Personnel person.
BEHAVIOUR:
All over 18's have a responsibility and Duty of Care to both yourself
and youth members included in the show at rehearsals and at the
theatre.
REHEARSALS:
Rehearsals are our most important activity. Cast are required to
listen carefully to all directions from members of the team, without
any talking. You must not chew gum during rehearsals.
NAME TAGS - CAST:
You will be given a name tag to wear during rehearsals. It is very
important that you wear this at all times. Please wear it above waist
level where it can be clearly seen. This will help us to identify
you, and will help you make friends.
BUDDY SYSTEM
Each new cast member will have an experienced cast member to be their
buddy and helper. They have big shoulders to absorb all your concerns.
SMOKING:
Under 18's are NOT permitted to smoke at any time during rehearsals
or at the theatre. There is a designated smoking area at all
rehearsal and show venues for over 18's.
MOBILE PHONES
Cast are expected to turn off their Mobile Phone while rehearsals are
being conducted.. If you consider it important that your phone remain
switched on, then give it to a member of the Personnel Team to answer
any incoming calls. Arts Centre rules now do not permit Mobile Phones
or Cameras in the Dressing Rooms.
ALCOHOL & DRUGS
The consumption of alcohol
and drugs is
prohibited to all show
members during rehearsals and at the theatre.
LOST PROPERTY:
Please avoid having property lost, by having all scripts and items of
clothing named. Remember there will be many jumpers and other
clothing that look alike. Do not bring valuables to rehearsals or
theatre.
TICKETS:
You will be able to purchase tickets at most rehearsals Please make
sure you put your order in at the
beginning of each rehearsal.
Tickets may be purchased by mail, or by phoning our Ticket Express Line,
and in person from our Agent. Patrons choose their seat at most performances.
Tickets may also be available at the Theatre Box Office before each show.
So be early!!
COLLECTING CHILDREN:
For reasons of safety, please have your parents collect you from the
foyer of the rehearsal venue. If your group is on duty, you will stay
approx. 10mins later at the end. The duty group will be expected to
help tidy up before leaving.
NOTICES

home. It will contain important information that you need to know,
such as any time changes, special rehearsals etc.

theatre, where you can buy soft drinks & Confectionery.
Cordial/tea/coffee is provided free of charge at each rehearsal.
PARENTS AND SUPPORTERS:

important than Parents & Supporters. We need them to help with a
variety of jobs i.e. helping with refreshments (canteen on rehearsal
nights & theatre), cooking for weekend rehearsals and sewing.
Building and Painting Scenery. Transporting the stage sets etc. If
you can help in any way please advise us by phone or e-mail.
